Call for Abstracts

Abstracts

The Summit will include detailed presentations on sustainable and resilient feed production practices for pig production. This topic demands the integration of knowledge from various disciplines including climate impact assessment, pig nutrition and productivity, economics, and more.

If you’re conducting research related to one of the four conference topics, your findings would be a valuable addition to the event. Successful submissions will grant you the opportunity to present your work alongside industry leaders and fellow researchers at the Pig Research Summit 2024 in Copenhagen.

Abstracts should address one of the following topics:

  • Amino acid supplementation and bioavailability
  • Industrial enzymes
  • Other innovative feed additives
  • Improving pig performance
  • Nutrient use efficiency
  • Feed protein reduction
  • Feed processing to improve increased feed utilisation
  • How to make feed composition more sustainable
  • Future manufacturing and feed processing to optimize feed utilisation
  • Monitoring pig production (camera, sound surveillance analysis, sensors)
  • Animal Key Indicators and Gold Standards
  • Precision pig farming
  • Non-conventional protein sources
  • Local protein sources
  • Sustainable soybean meal
  • Rapeseed and sunflower cake
  • Legumes (eg. faba beans, pea, lupine, soy)
  • Marine sources (seaweed, mussels, crabs, starfish etc.)
  • Green protein by biorefining of grass, clover etc.
  • Protein sources of the future, insect protein
  • Single cell protein (bacteria, yeast, algae, fungi)
  • Feed sustainability
  • LCA methods
  • LCA in the light of planetary bound
  • Branded feed materials and ingredients
  • Feed databases
  • PEF – environmental footprint methods
  • What is the future of pork production?
  • Pig production’s biggest challenges in the future
  • Is sustainable feed carbon neutral?
  • Sciencebased targets strategy and goals
  • Supply chain farm to fork, data-driven development and documentation
  • Are carbon neutral pigs a possibility?

We welcome abstracts that cover research and well-documented practical experience from the field.

  • Abstracts should include one of the four topics mentioned above
  • All abstracts must be in English
  • Abstracts must be submitted as a Word document and should not exceed one A4 page (Font: Times New Roman, 9 point heading in bold italics and then body text in 9 point, commas between key words)
  • The abstract itself should be written under the following headings:
    • Full title
    • Authors and affiliations
    • Introduction
    • Material and methods
    • Results and discussion
    • Conclusion and implications
    • Acknowledgements (if applicable)
    • References
  • The abstract can include tables and figures
  • Select one of the four topics at submission
  • Please indicate your preferred method of presentation (oral or poster)

Presentation

  • Some of the abstracts will be selected for oral presentation (10 mins for the presentation and 5 mins for Q&A).
Accepted abstracts not selected for oral presentation can be displayed as a poster during the conference.
